Build Your Own Bundle: Best 3 Shopify Apps

A product bundle is a set of two or more related products sold toghether (such as a phone, case and headphones), usually offered at a discount.
Why bundling? Because this is one of the best ways to increase order AOV.
There are many ways to bundle products, but today I’ll focus on Build Your Own Bundle (BYOB). In a few words, Build Your Own Bundle is a sales strategy that allows customers to selecting the products they want to build their own personalized bundle of products.
Let’s take a look at 3 apps that offer Build Your Own Bundle and break down the pros and cons of each.

Boxi: Bundle Builder & BYOB (⭐️5.0 - 19+ reviews)
The first app we’re going to explore is Boxi: Bundle Builder & BYOB.
Boxi is a relatively new app that helps merchants create personalized product boxes. It is designed to increase sales by allowing your customers to create their own gift boxes, mix-and-match bundles, and custom product sets. With Boxi, you can easily set up mix-and-match options, flat or tiered discounts, and purchase rules to maximize profits.
Who is Boxi ideal for?
Merchants who specialize in personalized gifts and need a flexible way to let customers create the perfect box.
Stores that want to offer seasonal or event-based bundles - perfect for holidays and special occasions.
Merchants who sell complementary products, such as bath or nail care kits, want to save their customers time and increase the value of their orders by displaying the products together for convenience.
Let’s take a look at the Perfume Set Box (multi-step box builder).

I made this builder in just a few minutes and it looks nice without any customization and customer support.
But let’s look at the pros of the app:
What I liked
Easy and straightforward builder setup
The app is designed to be very user-friendly for beginners or those who have decided to create a builder for the first time.
I’m not just relying on my first impression here, but also on a large number of reviews that highlight the user-friendly interface.
Offers 3 types of steps
Product step - This is the step where you select the products for each step. You can select products manually or you can select collections at once.
Filtered product step - This step is different in that it automatically adjusts the filter for this step. The app is also integrated with the Shopify Search & Discovery app, so instead of just filtering by tags like other apps, you can create filters and have them automatically applied.
Custom data step form builder - A unique custom field builder to ask your customers for personalization information like gift message. You can create as many fields as you want, choose between different options like uploading photos, creating food diary preferences - to offer your customers maximum customization of their bundles or boxes.
Single bundle in the cart and at checkout
Single bundle is a feature that groups the purchased products under a single product in the cart and at checkout. Your customers won’t be able to delete items in their recently built bundle, which is important if you offer free shipping on your boxes, for example.
Real time visual editor
The visual editor allows you to visually customize your builder in real time to fit your theme and needs with an easy-to-use customization tool.
Real-time inventory check
Very important feature if you don’t have a lot of stock. This check will prevent your customers from buying more than you have in stock and will help you avoid unpleasant situations and even losing your first customers.
Shopify markets support
Full support of Shopify markets for stores that sell in multiple countries and currencies and want to offer regional pricing.
Purchase rules
The purchase rules are very conveniently structured. You will never get confused when using them. You can set minimum and maximum quantities that your customers can buy, as well as allow them to buy only a certain amount of each item, especially if you have limited quantities.
Tiered and flat discounts
Discounts are always important and being able to choose how and how much you want to discount your customers is very important. There are two types of discounts in the app:
Flat - you give a percentage discount, a certain amount or set a fixed price for your box builder.
Tiered - also possible in percentages, in a certain amount or set a fixed price for your builder. The beauty of this type is that you can create a multi-level discount and thus motivate your customers to buy more and save more. Progress bar, discount message and placeholders are also enabled in this type.
Things to consider
No box subscription feature available
Custom CSS cannot be added, but the visual editor compensates
No pre-selected products (but this is a work in progress) or other automations
Pricing
Boxi offers four paid plans ranging from $19 to $185 per month, depending on your monthly sales and features. All plans come with a 14-day free trial, and there’s a free option for development/partner stores.
Kitenzo ‑ Full Page Bundles (⭐️4.4 - 363+ reviews)
Kitenzo ‑ Full Page Bundles is already a veteran in the Shopify App Store. It allows you to create both single and multi-step boxes. The app is designed for businesses that sell multipacks, gift sets, fixed sets, and mix & match bundles.
At first glance, you’ll notice that Kitenzo’s pricing is not fixed - the more you earn, the more you pay to use it. However, Kitenzo offers features that other similar apps don’t have.
Let’s take a look at the box I created. I used the same products to keep it as similar as possible.

I’d also like to mention that I created the box without any help from customer support, relying solely on first impressions to judge how easy it was to set up.
The Perfume Set Box turned out pretty nice, the only thing that didn’t work for me was adding products from the collection. I had to add each product manually.
Now let’s talk about the pros and cons of Kitenzo.
What I liked
Out of the box templates
The app offers 4 templates to choose from for your box builder. You can also customize them to match the style of your store.
Conditions Engine (Pro feature)
Conditions Engine for applying custom logic to your box. You can create triggers, conditions, and actions that tailor the bundle’s behavior based on specific criteria.
Real-time Design Editor
A highly customizable visual editor that displays changes in real time.
Custom CSS Injection
If you want a custom design tailored to your needs and store style, you can insert your custom CSS. But you need an experienced developer to make your builder work smoothly and without bugs.
Template Creator
A tool that allows you to create your own bundle page template from scratch if you need a very custom layout.
Recurring Bundles
An important feature to keep your customers making repeat purchases.
”Back in stock” notification
A feature that improves the customer experience when the products they need are out of stock. Customers can request to be notified when an item is back in stock.
Shopify markets support
Same function as in Boxi.
Things to consider
In admin everything is on one page, making it a hard to focus and somewhat confusing to set up.
No support for showing products from a collection. There is an importing from collection but it didn’t work for me.
Floating rate - When installing the app, you’ll need to accept a variable pricing plan. According to some reviews, a few merchants were unexpectedly surprised by the charges, so we advise reviewing the pricing information thoroughly before proceeding.
No custom data fields - you can have only one field, which is hidden inside the bundle summary button.
Real-time inventory issues (doesn’t account for “Continue selling when out of stock” setting)
Pricing
Kitenzo offers 3 paid plans Essential (starting at $25), Performance (starting at $299) and Enterprise plan (Custom pricing). These are not fixed plans - you will also have to pay 1% - 1.25% per bundle transaction. All plans come with a 14-day free trial, and there’s a free option for development/partner stores.
EB | Easy Bundle Builder (⭐️4.9 - 365+ reviews)
Easy Bundle is another app that helps you create personalized box builders. Like the previous applications, it offers the same core functionality, but it also provides a paid service for customizing your builder.
Perfume Set Box using Easy Bundle (video)
However, unlike the other two apps, this box builder loads slowly and jumpy. Also, when we go to the shopping cart, products can be removed - which doesn’t make much sense since the main goal of the builder is to increase AOV and sell more.
Now, let’s take a look at the pros and cons of Easy Bundle Builder.
What I liked
Customize your builder
Paid service to customize your builder to match your store - great if you don’t have a developer and want a custom builder.
Subscription box
Motivate your customers to make repeat purchases.
Design Control Panel (real-time editor)
You can customize each component separately, but not possible to see the changes for the entire box builder. Harder to use than in Boxi or Kitenzo.
Custom CSS injection
Same as Kitenzo, a good option if you have a skilled developer.
Customize steps with icons
Nice addition: you can customize steps with icons to make each step look better.
Supports Shopify Markets
Works the same as the above applications.
Things to consider
Overloaded admin main page (Where is my box builder?) - too much, mostly useless, information on the main page.
Image aspect ratio is not respected - Vertical photos may appear cropped at the top and bottom, disrupting the overall composition and creating an unbalanced visual appearance.
Limited custom field options (only available starting from the Plus plan)
Real-time inventory issues (doesn’t account for “Continue selling when out of stock” setting)
Does not support single bundle to show your bundle products grouped in the cart and at checkout.
Pricing
Easy Bundle Builder also offers three paid plans starting at $49 to $399 per month, depending on your monthly sales and exclusive features for each plan. Annual subscriptions offer savings of 16% to 23%. All plans come with a 15-day free trial, and there’s a free option for development/partner stores.
Conclusion
Today, we compared three bundle builders apps. Each has its pros and cons, but only you can decide which one suits your needs best.
If, after watching the videos, you’ve identified the box builder you want to offer to your customers, I recommend installing the app and giving it a try. Remember that every application has a trial period and you will not lose your money.
Also, test your box builders quickly - don’t spend too much time on endless customization. The key is to start as soon as possible, then adapt on the run!
